FUN GALLERY
Before the FUN Gallery opened in 1981, Patti Astor’s studio apartment on 3rd Street in the East Village of New York City was party central. Futura 2000 painted the wall, and Patti threw an “Art Opening and BBQ.”
Patti partnered with Bill Stelling as the FUN Gallery moved to 229 E. 11th St. As the gallery's reputation grew, more artists flocked to exhibit, so they moved to a larger space at 254 E. 10th St. My photographs from Kenny Scharf’s Sept. 1982 Black Light Room art opening, included Kenny, Keith Haring, Zephyr (my then-boyfriend), Dondi White, Futura 2000, Patti Astor, Haze, Revolt, and many others from the scene. They have been reproduced in definitive books on graffiti artists.
