India 2010 & 2011
India 2010 & 2011
My first visit to the magical land of India was in 2010 with my travel buddy, photographer Chester Simpson. It was on this trip where I learned from Chester how to photograph people. This was also the trip where I stopped shooting film after dropping a roll of unexposed film in a cow poo gutter. This trip took me from the Welcome Ceremony in the Thar Desert where I drank opium juice from a shaman's hands and got slightly loopy to the Agni Pooja Sunset Fire Ritual at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, which made my hair smell like incense for days! My Rajasthan adventure included Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Rohet, Udaipur, and Mumbai.
Back to India in 2011, I was hired as the keynote speaker for YPO (Young Presidents Organization) to speak about Feng Shui throughout the country. This was less of a photo safari and more of a meet and greet the important businessmen and families of the country. A whirlwind trip started in the Portuguese beach town of Goa, then off to the Punjab area of Ludhiana and Chandigarh, jetting to Delhi, Kolkata, and wrapping up the speaking tour in Bengaluru.
"India is action—fast-paced—lots going on. You start the day with masala and a bindi."
